On a warm summer’s day, we meet Simona, our new Girl About Town.
She dresses to her mood from an eclectic mix of clothes that would bless the most obsessed fashion guru’s wardrobe. Here, Simona is in one of Sofia’s parks, full of cultural intrigue. And it is at the fun fair that we get a glimpse of her outfit for the day. More summer rockabilly chick than festival floosy, she is only concerned with authenticity and wears her attitude with pride.
The baby pink skirt gently wafts in the warm air, the slight, almost undetectable breeze manages to cool in the glare of the afternoon sun. Her treasured bustier from Yes Master is a nod to care free days, the crisp marine stripe of the cups matched perfectly to the neon tangerine ruffle, that says “I know how to have fun – but on my terms”. This is summer without any of the kitsch. The long line shape harks back to 50s pin-up and rock ‘n’ roll, yet given a modern twist with black detailing and mesh.
A little denim jacket with Punk overtones ensures that she is less Pink Ladies and more Pink Rocker. The silhouette says Westwood, this is femininity where the female is very much in control. The tiny clasp clutch in patent black leather is barely large enough for a lipstick (Passion red by Chanel naturalement), smartphone (the modern girl’s diary) and a pack of Gauloises but they are all the essentials she needs.
Her date will be waiting at the little restaurant on the edge of the park. The retro 60’s communist chic of the Raketa Bar in perfect timing with her outfit.
